Seventh Grade Class
These young people were students in John Hollandsworth's seventh grade class at Samuel H. Hairston School. Can you help us identify them? Samuel H. Hairston School closed in 1991, 33 years after it was founded as a school for black students. Part of the property is operated today by Henry County as a park. The school was named in honor of Rev. Samuel H. Hairston, born in 1891, who taught school for 50 years. At least part of his teaching career found him at Black Knob School in the Irisburg District of Henry County.
