This picture finds him celebrating the Fourth of July in a cool spot near Patrick County's Hurricane Ridge. Lawrence worked most of his life in the furniture industry. He began at Bassett Furniture, then moved to construction for awhile, and then worked at Guardsman Chemical. He worked as a sales rep for Guardsman, a Bassett, VA area company that supplied finishing chemicals to the furniture industry. Lawrence is married to Guiwana Compton and they have two daughters, Donna and Linda, and a son, Michael.
