Noel Boaz is pictured here giving a presentation at the Martinsville and Henry County Historical Center, the Courthouse Museum, on the topic of the Drs. Shackelford and their Hospital. Boaz is tying the 1930s era hospital in downtown Martinsville to his newest project known as The College of Henricopolis School of Medicine. In the audience are 2 of Dr. John Shackelford's daughters, Margie S. Toms and Frances S. Leavitt. In an arrangement announced on July 24, 2012, Mervin King will lease the old George's Supermarket Building on Fayette to Boaz's group known as the Integrative Centers for Science and Medicine. The fundraising campaign for Boaz's project will be called the Shackelford Fund and the renovated building will be called ... you guessed it ... the Shackelford Building. Visit the Courthouse Museum to see a display of old medical equipment, some of which was used by Dr. Jesse and Dr. John Shackelford.
