August 14, 2012: This great photo of a Swim Meet at the Fieldale Pools may make you happy or sad. Sad if you are kind of old as it will just remind you of how you once stood on those blocks and sailed out to hit the water as flat as possible when that gun fired. And how if you did that now your body would probably disintegrate. The Fieldale Community Center has been hosting swim meets since the early 1960s. Kids like Mark Barnard and Rufus Ingram were very talented and even qualified for AAU rankings. Happily life goes on at the Center and several swim meets every summer are still the norm. Thanks should go to Jessica Johnson, pool manager and coach of the FCC HEAT team, for her hard work and leadership this season. And don't these kids look great!
