Spider Stultz with his 1930 Ford Roadster Convertible
He is Brice Stultz, III, named for his father Brice Stultz, Jr., but most people know him as Spider. This photo was taken in 1947 near the back of what is now Bob Stultz's house in Fieldale, VA. Willie Sawyers may be seen standing in the doorway. Spider paid $35 for the Ford's chassis. His brother James and their good friends Willie Sawyers, Benny Arnold, Mr. Fox and later Dr. Geoff Curwen helped him rebuild it. There was much scrounging for other parts and substitutions because after the war cars and parts were very scarce. The convertible body was actually dug out of a creek. It was a lot of work but too it was the fulfillment of any young man's dream to own a convertible. Spider named his car "Lizzie".

Reader Input:
Dr. Curwen came to Fieldale, VA about 1955 so the 'Lizzie' photo here labeled 1947 is likely the car in its early days. Thanks to B.J. Carter for a heads up on this date confusion.
