In the center is Mike Combs, Martinsville native, now living in Atlanta, GA. Mike has MS and was scheduled to walk in the "Walking For A Cure MS" event. Little did he know his friends were coming from Virginia and North Carolina to walk with him. Left to right they are Bill Lavinder, Jaime McAllister, Danny Dunbeck, Mike Combs, John Adams, David Dickerson, and Kenny Carper. Lavinder, McAllister, Combs, Adams and Dickerson grew up in Martinsville; Carper is from Galax. Jaime and Mike are sons of local tennis enthusiast Rae McAlister, now deceased. The event was held at Piedmont Park. And along with this nice surprise came another for Mike: his first grandchild Hadley Elizabeth made her grand entrance!
