Dining at the Hut |
The Hut in Collinsville, VA was built, most likely, by Dr. Grey Hughes. At it's high point in the 1960s it was operated by Carmen Gomez Gerber and her father Alphonse Gerber. Alphonse was a trained French chef. He was assisted by James Penn. The Hut was considered THE PLACE to eat especially on a Sunday and other times as well. This photo is of a paper placemat carried to France from the Hut by Claude Gerber. Claude visited his uncle Alphonse in the early 1960s. . Watch for the Hut menu ... next up.
