611
A recent article in AAA World magazine reminded me that I still had not visited the Transportation Museum in Roanoke, VA. So come Labor Day Weekend I did just that. Here is a photo of the glorious J Class 611 designed and built by the Norfolk and Western employees at the Roanoke Shop in 1950. This engine is the last of the J class; it has been retired and is now revived and is used for excursions. Luckily it was still on view at the Transportation Museum as it returns to Spencer, NC on Wednesday.
